Our relationships with our parents, spouses and children evolve over time. So does our relationship with God. It should never stagnate, never stay the same. If it does, we’re not spending enough time developing the relationship. A couple’s conversation of their first date is much different than after twenty years of marriage.
The evolution takes place because we gain wisdom with time and experience. As we become parents, we recognize what our parents sacrificed. As we learn more about God, we have a greater appreciation for the depth of his love. Without the relational maturity, we cannot make the emotional transition.
Your relationship with God will continue to mature and you will feel this intimacy. It won’t happen overnight. Your continued communication and obedience will strengthen your relationship, and he will become your best personal companion.
✝ The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. (Exodus 33:11)
✝ I no longer call you servants…Instead, I have called you friends… (John 15:15)
